These were from my first army (Warhammer, Bretonnia). After painting a lot of other models first, I moved into the big leagues. I wanted something bright and colorful. Mission accomplished. I painted over the top of white primer on the first few armies and then coated them with gloss. It shows up well, but it is two or three times the work of black primer and has a more “cartoon” feel. After putting a couple hours in on each knight, you can’t help feeling a strong attachment.
My recommendation for paint: cheap acrylic craft paint. Even then the tubes last forever. The model companies charge too much for too little. And they don’t offer nearly the range of colors. Oil based and enamel paints are from the devil.
