Terrifying Lies Podcast

Terrifying Lies is a podcast of horror short stories by the amazing Craig Nybo. Not only is he a great author, but he is an amazing musician. This has synthesized into some incredible cross-over projects, including one where he took lyrics I wrote and made it into a song! But I digress. One of his awesome ideas was to have a band (full band, not just a rhythm section) play improv music while authors read short stories. It was a kind of game where the musicians had to try and match the feel of the story on the fly while still working with each other. Obviously, since Craig’s band is the best at what they do, it worked. And one of my stories put to such music has now been posted under the title:

A Lovecraftian Improv Romp

If that doesn’t get you to go listen to it, I weep for your loss of childlike wonder in the universe. 😉

The whole thing is awesome, but my part starts at 7:30. And so I give this to you as gift… HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Sibyl's Scriptorium 5

It’s finally out.

For those who don’t know, one of the items on my writing goal list for years has been to get some poetry published. Poetry is really hard to get into print. First, it’s a whole literary discipline, including a huge learning curve and new skill sets. Second, not many people buy poetry, so there are few places publishing. Third, a lot of people write it, making it even harder to get into one of the few open spots. Still, I figured if I worked at it off and on over the years, eventually I’d get there… and this year I finally did!

Sibyl’s Scriptorium is the publication of wining entries from a writing contest associated with a local writing conference. It used to be part of LTUE, but recently moved to Fyrecon. So, as I’ve been doing for years, when I saw a place I might have poetry suited to, I submitted. Only this time, I won first place! Winners all get in the book, so I finally landed this goal.

My poem, RED WITCH RUN, was inspired by a piece of art by Alexandria Dior. Posted here with permission.

If you want to see the poem to go with it, you can get it here.

This isn’t the end of my poetry exploration. I intend to write more. And maybe someday I’ll have a book of my work published. Until then, this will do.

Big News!

Yesterday, I crossed something off my bucket list… I published a poem! Better than that, I even won a contest with it. I was pretty shocked and elated. 🙂

The poem will be published in Sibyl’s Scriptorium, Volume 5.

I’m also thrilled that my story, Pre-Screening Test, as part of the GameLit Expansion Pack box set has spent some time as number 1 on Amazon’s chart for Virtual Reality! If you haven’t read it yet, get it now!
